Weekend Specials

Weekend Specials Image

Almost every weekend we produce a Vienna Bakery Weekend Special. Below are some of our customers' firm favourites:

Mille-Feuille Gateau

Also known as the vanilla slice or custard slice this cake is made up of three layers of puff pastry with pastry cream and jam layered in between.

At Vienna we like to experiment with the Mille Feuille and make it more seasonal. Sometimes we add fresh strawberries, other times some blueberries and a dash of kirsch to the cream.

In French Mille-Feuille means “thousand leaf” in reference to the delicate layers of the gateau.

Strawberry Flan

A firm favourite our Strawberry Flan is made with fresh Jersey strawberries.

Flans came to Europe with the Romans. Eggs were a staple in Roman cooking and so when they conquered Europe the flan came with them. Starting out originally as savoury the flan has transitioned over the centuries to become a sweet dish. In 1475 an Italian cookery book advised bakers that custard dishes had health benefits as well as being delicious. These benefits included increasing fertility and aiding the kidneys and livers.

Chocolate Walnut Orange Tart

Our baked chocolate and walnut tart, topped with bitter chocolate ganache with a hint of orange and decorated with orange slices and walnuts is always a crowd pleaser.

But why do these three flavours taste so good together?

Chocolate is rich and creamy and has a high-fat content, combined with the citrus orange it creates the perfect balance. The walnuts provide a delicious crunch to an otherwise smooth experience.

Two Ways – Victoria Sandwich

If you can’t choose between the classic Victoria Sandwich and delicious chocolate cake then the Two Way sandwich is the cake for you.

Half chocolate half vanilla sponge. This way there will be no arguments at afternoon tea!

Blueberry Muffin Crumble Cake

Indulge yourself with a twist on the traditional crumble by buying a Blueberry muffin crumble cake.

Packed full of fresh blueberries and topped with crumble perfection you will not be disappointed.
